Professional wedding photographer in Congleton, Cheshire and North West

I’m Lisa Cowen, a Cheshire based wedding photographer who absolutely adores both weddings and photography – so I’m definitely in the right job!
I have been a full time photographer for over 15 years now and I have photographed over 500 weddings.

I was thinking recently about what this actually means in terms of experience and I have probably organised somewhere in the region of 5000 group photographs. I have captured tens of thousands of portraits, and natural, reportage style images, and to top it all, I have probably taken around half a million wedding photographs in my time! Those are some big numbers!

As every wedding is so different, I have 3 different packages and I am very flexible when it comes to the plan of the day. With my All-inclusive package, I usually arrive 2 hours before the ceremony begins to capture some photographs of the preparations. If you would prefer me to head straight to the ceremony venue instead that is no problem at all. I am normally allowed to photograph the key moments of the ceremony, and then after the service I usually take some group photos either at the ceremony venue or at the reception venue. I find that a wedding naturally lends itself to different styles of creative photography; there are times when I will use a photojournalistic style to capture hugs and tears and proud smiles, and then there are certain shots, such as the signing of the register, throwing the confetti and cutting the cake etc which, although traditional shots, I like to capture as naturally as possible, with a just a tiny bit of organisation from myself. At a couple of different points in the day, preferably both before and after the wedding breakfast. I usually like to take the newlyweds away from the crowd, just for 15 minutes or so, to get some couples shots in and around the wedding venue. The light will be different with each short session, so your photos will have a different feel at different times of the day.

Throughout the day I will be capturing your celebrations using a natural, reportage style, so that you will be able to relax with your guests and enjoy yourselves. The responsibility is on me to create the images that I am looking for, so for most of the day you won’t really know that I am there, and when you do I work very efficiently so that you can continue enjoying your celebrations without disruption. When the wedding breakfast is over, I often take the couple for a few more romantic shots, and I then stay to capture the evening reception, up to and including the first dance.

My VIP package includes all of the above plus everything else! There’s a in-person venue walkaround pre-meeting, so we can discuss your day whilst I point out top spots and posing tips for photos. I cover an extra hour of preparations to include both parties/ multiple venues if required, the full day’s photography and an extra hour of partying on the dancefloor after the first dance. Along with the beautiful online gallery and the full res USB, you will also receive a stunning Graphistudio lay-flat storybook album, containing 80-100 of your favourite images.

With my DIY package, which is more suitable for midweek/ smaller weddings, you choose the number of hours coverage that you would like. In general, this tends to cover a few pre-ceremony photos, the ceremony itself and some family/ wedding party group shots, along with some relaxed couple’s shots too. Again, as every wedding is so different, you would need to let me know your venue and your thoughts on timings/ number of guests etc. so that we could make a plan which suits you.

If you would like to have a chat about your plans or if you would just like some more information, please do contact me. A phone call is easy and I am available during the day, but my evening appointments get snapped up very quickly, so you would need to book one of these a few days in advance. Most people like to arrange a meeting via Zoom, or Teams or in person, at some point before the big day and this is a good opportunity for me to talk through your plans and I can answer any questions you might have and provide you with any advice you may need. In order to confirm your date, I send you a booking form, and then ask you to return the completed form along with a deposit of £150 which secures your booking.

I am LSWPP qualified with the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers, and I have professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
I carry lots of spare equipment, and my cameras each have 2 memory cards to back up your images on the big day.
